cooking salmon on the grill
Ingredients:
4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon fresh dill (or ½ teaspoon dried dill)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Lemon wedges (for serving)
Fresh herbs (optional for garnish)
Cooking Method:
Preheat the Grill:
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 375–400°F or 190–200°C). Clean the grill grates to prevent sticking.
Prepare the marinade:
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, soy sauce (optional), minced garlic, honey or maple syrup, Dijon mustard, dill, salt, and pepper.
Reserve a small portion of the marinade for basting.
Marinate the Salmon:
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over them.
- Let the salmon marinate for 15–30 minutes (don’t marinate longer to avoid breaking down the fish).
Grill the Salmon:
- Lightly oil the grill grates or spray them with a nonstick cooking spray.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill.
- Grill for 4-6 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets. The salmon is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) or flakes easily with a fork.
- If you reserved any marinade, brush it over the salmon fillets during grilling for extra flavor.
Rest and Serve:
- Remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
- Serve with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
- Enjoy your perfectly grilled salmon with your favorite side dishes!
